SMS Spam Detection System Using Flask Framework
Project Synopsis & Overview
This project develops a secure and user-friendly web-based SMS spam detection system using machine learning and the Flask framework. The system allows users to register using their email address and verify their identity through an OTP sent via email. User passwords are securely stored using hashing techniques. After successful login, users can enter SMS messages through the web interface to determine whether the message is spam or legitimate (ham). The system uses a labeled SMS dataset for training and applies text preprocessing and feature extraction using CountVectorizer. A Naive Bayes classifier is implemented using Python and Scikit-learn for message classification. The trained model is integrated into the Flask application to provide real-time spam prediction. SQLite is used for storing user information, while Flask-Mail is used for OTP-based email verification. The system provides an interactive interface for secure authentication and SMS spam classification.
